South American songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Attawalpa makes the kind of music that transcends the confines of modern trends. Now based in London, Attawalpa's new single 'Holliday' opens with a throbbing metallic sound before the track's melodic bass line introduces a set of dramatic strums on an acoustic guitar. Centred around a simple chord progression, Attawalpa's vocal style is reminiscent of MGMT circa 2007, sitting clearly and earnestly above the instrumentation; whilst the vocal lines themselves seem to nod to the work of Bowie's Ziggy Stardust persona. Arriving alongside a kaleidoscopic video which, according to the artist, is intended as "a visual representation of a holiday into the third eye experience", 'Holliday' is certainly and interesting trip. -Holly Mullineaux
